There is no such thing as a perfect Musky rod for all applications.  But this model, custom built by Angling Design’s Marc Wisniewski, is about as close as you can get.

It is 6’-9” and rated for lure weights ranging from 1 to 5 ounces.  It will handle all the common sized lures from a Mepps Musky Killer to a 10” Suick or Depth Raider.  This rod is a workhorse from spring thru fall.

The blank is advanced high-modulus high-strain graphite that offers both maximum durability and sensitivity.  Components are top-quality cork handles, graphite reel seats and Pac-Bay guides.  The stylish black, gold and silver accents are carried through into the diamond-wrap above the grip.  If requested, Marc will personalize the rod by hand lettering your name or event on the rod in silver ink.

The rod is available with either conventional guides or the Spiral Wrap system.

What is Spiral-Wrap?  The spiral-wrap concept may be 100 years old, but is just being rediscovered by discerning anglers now.  It involves taking the guides on a casting rod and spiral them around and under the blank.  About half way down the rod, the guides (and your line) will be traveling below the blank like a spinning rod.  Why?  Spiral Wrapped guides give you more casting distance, no torsion or twisting of the blank, better hook setting power, faster response, fewer guides…and, therefore, a lighter rod.

A quality fishing rod can bend quite a bit before breaking.  But rod blanks do not do very well resisting heavy torsion.  A study was done on why casting rods break on a sudden hook set.  They found that it wasn’t the sudden flex of the blank.  Under a sudden and heavy load (hook set), conventional top guides have a natural tendency to try to twist or rotate under the blank.  It’s this twist that breaks the blank.  This is eliminated with Spiral wrapped rods.
